I was in the Finnish Metal Expo yesterday. (www.fme.fi) And there was this competition where you had to draw artwork for Watershed. The winner will get a PRS guitar with Mike's signature. I saw the guitar there. Don't remember which one but it was a black one.

Te¿ mi siê tak wydaje. Chocia¿ mo¿e bêdzie bardziej w stylu Still Life. Deliverance ju¿ raczej odpada, bo s±dze, ¿e najwy¿ej Heir Apparent bêdzie podobny do kawa³ków z tej p³yty.

article in a dutch metal magazine about the listening session, I'll briefly summarize here for you guys:

1. Coil: working title was "Zeppelin", revolving around an acoustic lead and is a very calm song that reminds vaguely of the folky side of Led Zeppelin. (it also states of course that it is quite daring to open a metal album with a song like this, in a positive sense).

2. Heir Apparent: growls and heavy guitar playing, almost 9 minutes that goes all sorts of directions with a lot of remarkable jazz-fusion twists.

3. The Lotus Eater: working title "Metal Something", even more jazz-fusion stuff. heavy opening, fusion interlude with a frizzle solo by Per. reference to jazzlegend Chic Corea as influence.
(here he talks shortly with Mikael about it, they talk about jazz influence which is strong on the album)

4. Burden: working title "Deep Floyd", Mikael describes it as when Jon Lord of Deep Purple would have been a member of Pink Floyd. a ballad with a guitar solo by Mikael in which he gives himself completely (so he says).

5. Porcelain Heart: folk elements (reminding of Jethro Tull) with complex parts reminding of Tool and heavy guitar work in the vein of Black Sabbath.

6. Hessian Peel: 11 minutes (longest song), lots of influences and styles jammed into it. starts relatively calm with epic pieces and touches of fusion, but culminates in one of the heaviest parts of the album.

7. Hex Omega: eastern influences especially in the melody.

Furthermore some talk about this album being a turning point (a Watershed) and a transition album after which all doors will be open for Opeth to go far beyond everything they have ever done.
Overall impression of the journalist: very very positive, but the statements by Mikael that it would be insanely complex and cause lots of confusion is somewhat exagerated.

Ogólnie tylko Porcelain Heart mnie troche martwi. "Folkowy Tool"? Chyba bêdzie to troche ma³o Opeth-owy kawa³ek. Poza tym "journali¶ci" twierdz±, ¿e album jednak nie jest tak bardzo kompleksowy, jak Mikael twierdzi³ w wywiadach.

Eee, martwi? Od kiedy nawet i najbardziej techniczny opis mia³by oddaæ zawarto¶æ muzyczn± p³yty czy utworu? Mo¿esz wylaæ milion s³ów opisuj±c muzykê a tak naprawdê czytelnik nie dowie siê niczego. To przecie¿ tak, jakby ¶lepemu próbowaæ opisaæ kolor czerwony.

Mo¿e wyrazi³em siê troche nieprecyzyjnie. Martwi mnie opis Porcelain Heart, gdy¿ je¶li to co napisali to prawda, to kawa³ek ten bêdzie troche ma³o Opeth-owy. Bynajmniej nie twierdze, ¿e bêdzie tak jak napisali w opisie utworu.

Jak pisa³em ju¿ wcze¶niej:

Ale mam nadziejê, ¿e bêdzie identycznie jak w przypadku ubieg³orocznych RoadRunnerowych p³yt studyjnych Dream Theater i Machine Head, czyli równolegle... Dodatkowa p³yta z pewno¶ci± zawieraæ bêdzie tak¿e wersjê 5.1 albumu. Mo¿e jeszcze teledysk... No i mi³o by³oby gdyby dorzucili jeszcze te cztery dodatkowe kawa³ki nagrywane na pocz±tku br.

w ubieg³ym roku sta³o siê to pewn± RoadRunner'ow± tradycj±, ¿e równolegle z wydaniem standardowym ukazuje siê specjalne wydanie dwup³ytowe, co uwa¿am za bardzo fair w stosunku do fanów. Je¿eli informacja jest prawdziwa, a tak podejrzewam, bêdzie to wspania³a sprawa i ju¿ nastawiam siê na edycjê specjaln±, która nb. w tych ubieg³orocznych wydawnictwach by³a od standardowej dro¿sza jedynie o ok. 10 z³.
